2019 Columbia Coho Salmon

There appears to be excitement in the air when it comes to the 2019 Columbia Cohosalmon returning to Oregon and Washington. Biologists from both states, as well as federal biologists are optimistic in a very favorable return this year of Coho salmon to the Columbia River and the Oregon andWashington coast. The run forecast for the returning fall chinook will likely be like the 2018 return, but according to fishery managers the expected return of coho to the Columbia River will likely be around 905,000 fish.

Potentially, this means a much higher take of coho in the ocean, which will be determined by the Pacific Marine fisheries Council later this month and into April. Much of the ocean caught fish are comprised of the coho returning to the Columbia River.


There is nothing more exciting than having non-stop action when the Columbia coho salmon fishing is in full swing. This action will keep young and old anglers alike entertained for hours. As the coho seasons are set, we can anticipate opportunities starting in the ocean out of Garibaldi in July and will migrate
